Volunteer Opportunities
Below are four general descriptions of volunteer opportunities at PPJPC. We are usually able to accommodate the interests and skills of our volunteers, so typically the actual responsibilities being performed do not neatly fit into just one of the categories. Please be advised that assignments may vary according to duration of commitment and can be catered to make the volunteer experience more rewarding.
Welcome Desk
Duration and Commitment: requires one four-hour assignment per week. Responsibilities: Our Welcome Desk volunteer is the liaison between the staff, program participants, and the general public. Duties include: answering phones, taking messages, and placing specific calls as requested by staff. Other duties include: E-mail and “pony mail,” office clean up, letters and mailings and general support of staff.
Special Events / Special Projects Volunteers
Duration and Commitment: Varies depending on the project or event. Responsibilities: Support or assist Program or Executive Director, Summer Peace Camp and/or Mothering Mother Earth are annual special events. Through the year we conduct workshops, seminars and demonstrations Duties might include: hosting an event. greeting, set up and take down, attending to a booth, or distributing documents.
Office Assistant / Computer Assistant
Duration and Commitment: Volunteers typically meet once a month for 2–4 hours. Responsibilities: Database Entry, Computer Support, Special Mailings, Help with Special Activities.
Active for Justice Publication
Duration and Commitment: Volunteers may meet six times a year for a maximum of 2–4 hours. Responsibilities: Editorial duties, labeling, mailing and distribution.
